Many organizations that wish to reach a financial goal
for a charity cause will draw a vertical thermometer,
with incremental goals written along the side of the
thermometer starting at the bottom with zero, and at the
top with, let's say, $20,000.
As each mini goal is met, they simply fill in the portion
of the thermometer up to the number they have reached.
This gives everyone an excellent visual of how close the
organization is to reaching its goal.
You can do the same for goals you're trying to set in
your life. A simple sheet of poster board and a thick
magic marker is all you need.
Draw your own thermometer, indicate your own starting
point, incremental goals, and completion point. Describe
the goal at the very top. Then, attach the poster to a
place you'll see clearly every day.
Fill in your thermometer as you complete each mini goal,
and you'll have a wonderful visual that will help keep you
on the track to success.
