Creative Ways To Add More Storage To A Room

Storage is a major issue for those living in their homes. Whether this is in a small crowded or large open concept home makes no difference, storage is a common problem. In any home, the lack of storage can be a stress inducer. Finding ways to store things and keep a home running smoothly is one way to bring a calming sense of order to those families constantly trying to cope with all the external pressures of daily life. The question is how to creatively find space for all the stuff you have currently and are continuing to accumulate.

Consider first, your storage needs. Examine each room in terms of what goes where and what type of storage is being used. Try to be specific as each space has its own requirements, identity and look.

There are a number of adaptable creative ways to address the issue. You might try listing a few and see where they can be implemented successfully. Clear bins, basket, racks and pullout shelves are three very versatile possibilities applicable to a variety of storage needs.  Use whatever works best for you in lower cabinets, under sinks and in cabinets.  Be careful to make allowances for leaky or non-leaky plumbing. This will save you getting down on your hands and knees to find things. If they are clear, it makes seeing inside easier. You may want to label the containers to ensure the contents remain as desired. </p>

In addressing the issue in the bedrooms and laundry rooms, you might find rollaway storage with lockable wheels can fit the bill perfectly. The right size, and do be sure to measure, can be tucked away into a stall or directly into a cabinet, island or closet or under a sink. The rollers ensure the storage is portable. It can be placed beside or under a table desk or other area, in some instances, being placed beside it to double as countertop.

Rollaway storage with its variety of types, shapes and sizes is ideal to store toys, sports equipment, tools, papers, and a wide variety of household articles.

Another way to find space in a home is to look up above cabinets, shelves and furniture. Is there space on the tops  of things to place storage boxes? Can you add shelving units above existing shelves or furniture? Consider placing shelves above the windows of a room.

Multi-task your current shelves and storage units. You may not have ample space in other areas, but there might be room in your entertainment units to display or hide things.

Contemplate using covered tables. A table decked out in a beautiful cloth can hide various storage units. A coffee table can be provided with an extra shelf below to conceal or reveal extra material. Better still; replace your coffee, end or corner tables with ones with drawers. Some have built-in shelves to further reduce clutter by providing storage space.

In a bedroom, consider using the space under the bed. This does not mean simply tossing stuff helter-skelter under the bed. It means utilizing the space in an orderly fashion. Place abandoned dresser drawers beneath or buy the clear plastic utility boxes. This will provide more storage space.

As you can see, there are several different and creative ways to add more storage to any room in your house. It is up to you to plan, deliberate and then implement the way most suitable for your home.
