Friday, August 14th, 2009A new study has just come out, echoing what some obesity experts have been saying for years, that diet is the key to weight loss, not exercise. In fact, there was a startling finding that exercise might even make you gain weight.
Exercising Outdoors May Leave You More Than Just Sweaty
Thursday, August 13th, 2009High school football started this week and kids are weathering brutal temperatures during “two a day” practices in full gear. Heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heat stroke are very serious problems that these athletes are facing that are potentially fatal. According to the Annual Survey of Football Injury Research, heat stroke kills youth and professional football [...]
Kickboxing Will Kick Your Butt, Not Necessarily Someone Else’s
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009I have taught group exercise for 25 years. Not that I am one to be shy, but I am an awesome instructor of all types of classes including spinning, AthleKinetix total body conditioning, power yoga, and kickboxing. I love teaching all of them, but I really enjoy kickboxing the way that I teach it.

Seeing The Glass Half Full Gives You Healthier, Longer Life
Tuesday, August 11th, 2009A new study just came out that showed that optimistic people are not only happier, but healthier as well. Participants in the research study that fell in the highest category of optimism lowered their chances of developing heart disease by 9%. Saturday, August 8th, 2009Gliders are one of my favorite exercise toys that are affordable, portable, and challenge the entire body. If you are not familiar with them, they look like frisbees that you place under your feet or under your hands and glide in a multitude of exercises. Many personal trainers and group exercise instructors over the years [...]
Does Running While Distracted Make You A Faster, Stronger Runner?
Friday, August 7th, 2009Every runner has his or her own routine when it comes to running. Some people prefer running on the treadmill while others are outdoor diehards. Some runners must always listen to their ipods or run with friends. Others view their daily runs as meditative time and prefer running alone with no music.
Stress Can Give You Much More Than A Headache
Thursday, August 6th, 2009It’s bad enough that the stress in our life is killing us mentally. But, new research shows that excess stress can be a killer physiologically as well. Studies done with monkeys have shown that when monkeys, who were given identical diets, were placed in dominant and subordinate social structures, the monkeys that were subordinate and [...]
You Are Not As Strong As You Think You Are If Parts of Your Body Are Weaker Than Others
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009If you have successfully incorporated resistance training into your workout program, then hats off to you. The next step is to make sure that you are training your body properly to become leaner or larger and stronger. A big mistake most people make when resistance training is to overtrain one part of your body at the [...]
