PMS is so NOT fun
By Christina | August 1, 2009
At 41 you would think I am more than accustomed to the monthly physical and emotional discomforts of PMS but you would think wrong. I absolutely hate the week before my body involuntarily sheds its “baby prep”. I don’t mind the physical discomforts; bloating and slight cramps I can deal with, after all pain is what I do for a living but the emotional fluctuations are what drive me and anyone around me, insane!
Here are some tips to help anyone else out there deal with the less than pleasant side effects of PMS:
- Increase your water: Usually have 8 to 10 glasses a day? Great, now have more!
- Do more cardio: Usually do 3 cardiovascular sessions a week? Do 4 or 5 when you start to feel the change.
- Lift weights: There is an increase in testosterone when you lift weights and this will help ease the symptoms
- Try some supplements:Evening Primose Oil, Calcium, L-Tyrosine, and St Johns Wort have all been linked for different reasons to easing the symptoms of PMS.
- Limit caffeine and alcohol: Drinks less coffee and skip cocktail hour during the week prior.
I cannot guarantee any of these will “fix” you but if you are desperate this is a good place to start.
