It’s Summer, Clients are Traveling, Now What?

By Christina | June 22, 2009

As a Personal Trainer for just over a hundred years now, (25 but it feels like one hundred), I know that summers are deadly slow which means my pockets are jingling a little less with money to spend. I have come up with a few ideas to help us all out during the off peak times like the summers and the holiday season.

Increase your weekly sessions - This may sound like a shameless plug to get more money out of your clients but the truth is summer means bathing suits and bathing suits mean exposure - skin exposure and most people want to be in their best shape when they don their suits.  As trainers, we know that the way to get  more results is to increase frequency, intensity or time so get cracking!

Schedule your clients around their vacations so they are committed to seeing you - Before they travel actually make an appointment for when you will see them again. This way you are not waiting on the “I am back and ready” phone call.

Keep in contact with your clients while they are away - Sounds like harassment but the truth is your clients want you to be there checking on them to see how they are doing and of they are behaving!

Try to create programs for children who are home and possibly in need of some physical activity - Start by asking your clients if their children are in need of some fitness help or training for a sport while they are home for the summer.
