How bad is sugar for you?

By Christina | June 15, 2009

It’s natural and it’s sweet, how bad can it be for you?  Actually it is not bad for you per se but it is filled with calories which lead to weight gain.  Unfortunately a side effect of sugar is that it actually inhibits the body’s ability to burn fat.  In other words, it not only adds calories and weight, it stops you from burning the fat - it’s a double whammy.

Sugar is found in places you may not even realize - white bread, beer, pasta, rice, even milk - it may do wonders for calcium but not for your sugar intake. Can you believe that one slice of bread converts into the equivalent of fourTABLESPOONS of sugar?

When you eat sugar, insulin production increases which then causes the body to store fat. Here are a few tips to help you with the sugar intake:

See if this helps and if you are one of those people who are sure they are eating properly and not losing weight, look into the sugar in the foods you eat - you might be surprised.

    Hey ,
May I take the liberty to say that yes sugar is bad , but which one refined ones .. Our body need sugar as long as it is in natural form , like fruits . Actually that would be the first and foremost think that every human being needs to have to function properly .
So yes refined sugar especially found in bread , pasta would be bad for you . Again as long as u take all those in moderation.
    Regards

Milk is not good as a source of calcium. Leafy green veggies and nuts/seeds have more bioavailable calcium. Milk is not for human consumption either.
