Question: What Is the Best Abdominal Exercise

By Christina | May 26, 2009

Answer:  So many people rank flat abs on their list of “wants” when it comes to a great body.  They typically ask what do I have to do to get a six pack.  Well, to get a six pack you need to abdominal exercises, to see a six pack you need to burn the fat off the body, assuming you have any.

The top exercises for a well defined abdominal region are:

1. Bicycles - Lie flat on the floor with your hands behind your head. Bring your kness to 45 degree angles and slowly move through a simulated bicycle motion. Allow your left elbow to touch your right knee and then switch.

2. Captain’s Chair Leg Lifts - This one requires a piece of gym equipment that looks like a high chair with no seat.  You lift and lower your legs with control, knees together.  You might be able to do this on playground equipment.

3. Stability Ball Crunches - These are found at any fitness store and are an inexpensive and vauable tool for training.  You sit on the ball and slide down until your middle back is on the ball.  Place your arms across your chest and lift and lower your upper body.

4. Reverse Crunches - Laying flat on the floor, lift your legs so that the knees are bent at 90 degree angles.  Lift and lower your hips.

The best cardio exercises to blast fat are anything that gets your heart rate up and keeps it there for 30 minutes during a training session.  Ideally, it is an activity you love so you will keep coming back for more.
