Looking for a new way to work your lower legs?

Have you ever changed just a small part of your exercise routine and felt a huge difference?  Your body is an expert at learning to do an activity well when it happens over and over. I like to compare it to a business.  When you have an employee or an assembly line repeating a task it becomes better at the task and it takes less effort to become better at the task.  Your body is the same way.  Repeat a bicep curl in the exact same manner with the exact same weight every time and it will stop being an effective tool to reshape your bicep curl.  You need to change your routine and your angles to keep seeing results.

Since I am at the beach with my family, many of which workout as regularly as I do, there has been some beach running instead of the usual pavement or treadmill running. Granted, I have not done any running, heck beyond casual kayaking, I have done nada – nothing but rest and relax and spend some great time with my kids.

As usual, I digress… those that did go beach running were sore after the first day.  When you run on a hard, dry surface there is not much need for stabilization of the ankles or knees in a lateral manner but on the sand there is constant compensation because of the angles and mini dunes.  It’s funny, you take for granted that something so small can make such a difference but it does and it is beneficial to your body that you make those small changes from time to time.
