The Gymstick

By Christina | May 16, 2009

So I am here in Orlando at a fitness conference as a booth exhibitor and we have a booth across from a company called The Gymstick.  At first glance, we thought this was hysterical. It is a lightweight fitness stick with bands attached.  How could this possibly be a good idea? It’s probably a complete waste of money, another fitness toy that will spend all its time in the closet in someone’s house or at the gym.

If you would have concluded the same thing as I did, you would be wrong - as was I. Actually the Gymstick is a great piece of fitness equipment to add to your “fit kit”.  With this “stick” you can do resistance training in the pool or land, in group exercise or alone.  You can execute curls, overhead presses, even donkey kicks.  Additionally, there are class formats already designed making it that much easier to implement into the class schedule right away:

The body bar has been my favorite bar type of accessory in a class but I think I will be trading up and incorporating this into my workouts if I can convince our Fitness Director to invest in the “toys” for our studio.
