Another fad diet or a real breakthrough?

By Christina | April 19, 2009

Yes, most diets do fail and most of us who shed the pounds will put them back because we did not change our lifestyle, we adopted possibly odd or very low calories eating habits for a brief time and that’s simply not a great method to keep the pounds off.

Dr. Alan Hirsch (doctor of psychiatry and neurology) has been trying to discover why we gain the weight back. After 25 years, he feels he has unlocked the mystery. With His lifelong specialty has been understanding how our senses, and in particular, smell and taste affect the brain’s functioning. It appears that through the ages humans have been programmed to eat enough to ensure survival. Sure, by today’s standards this seems like a no-brainer but there was a time when you had to eat when food was available.

Unfortunately, when food is abundant and rich in calories, as it is today, the results can be ugly.
In what I find to be interesting and contradictory to what I once thought, is that the doctor found when patients lost their sense of smell and taste due to illness or accident, they actually gained weight. He surmised that certain smells and tastes seemed to be acting on the brain to control the appetite.

Acting on this data, Dr Hirsch developed an odorless, tasteless supplement you add to your food which will actually impact body’s appetite-control center.  He tested his product on over 1400 participants and found they lost an average of 30lbs over a six month period. There was no special diet or exercise plan, all they did to change their current behavior was add this supplement (Sensa) to their foods.

According to Dr Hirsch, “Sensa allows you to eat all the foods that satisfy your senses and you don’t have to deal with any intense food cravings or feelings of starvation.” Sensa, according to his study, will also not affect your digestive system.

I am always skeptical of anything besides eating properly and exercising regularly so check this product out if you like but check with your doctor first!
