A Little Workout Goes A Long Way Against Addiction, Depression, Stress and Dementia
By Christina | April 12, 2009
We all know the benefits of exercise but sometimes it’s good to revisit them. Regular exercise improves blood flow to the brain, detoxifies the body, adjusts your cycle of physical behavior, and relieves stress. Additionally, working out improves thinking, mental functioning and helps to reduce addictions.

With each new study done on the effects of exercise we find a greater link between the mind and body. Aerobic exercises like cycling, swimming, jogging etc lead to the release of the body’s natural good feeling chemicals, endorphins. These are natural stress-busters.

When you workout you are channeling your energy away from the stressors in your life. Stress is a building up of over-thinking and lack of release which creates a stiffness and tension which exercise relieves.
Research has shown that a fit, active body can assist in the reduction of Alzheimer’s disease by improving cerebral-vascular blood flow. Other research has found that the elderly who engage in some sort of exercise at least three days a week cut their risk of developing Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia by as much as 30 percent to 40 percent.
