If it works for Herchel Walker it’s worth a try

There are those who will always view aqua fitness as an activity best left to the elderly, injured or overweight. Sure swimmers are in great shape, but when you think aqua fitness often the images are of bathing caps in the pool moving slowly to Frank Sinatra tunes.
Don’t be fooled, aqua fitness can be intense and worth your time to try it out. Certainly, if you have never tried swimming as an exercise, you will surely be surprised to find just how hard it is. In addition to being challenging, different strokes and kicks utilize different muscle groups. The butterfly, as an example, is an excellent way to workout your upper body, including your pecs and lats.
Herschel Walker, the famed Heisman Trophy winner, spent plenty of time in the pool using aqua fitness techniques to strengthen and build the endurance in his legs by running in the water. There are plenty of resistance and isometric exercises that can be used to build strength and muscles.
If you prefer sports to working out solo, there is no shortage of fun activities such as water polo, water soccer, and water volleyball, while competitive and fun, are very good for building muscle. Aqua fitness typically uses the entire body as you exercise whereas weightlifting is typically limited to the specific muscle you are training. You have nothing to lose (unless you can’t swim, in which case disregard this blog) and everything to gain so give aqua fitness a try; after consulting a doctor of course!
