Pole Dancing is for Anyone Looking to Bring to Fun (and Creativity) to Their Workouts

By Christina | February 26, 2009

Anyone can do it, soccer moms, young adults, CEO’s, middle aged, anyone willing to try. Pole fitness gained notoriety when a couple of Supermodels promoted how much fun and effective it was as a form of exercise.

A few of the exercises you will learn in a Pole Dance class are

The Walk Around:
Just like it sounds, walk around.  Well there’s a bit more to it than that. Pull your shoulders and rear end back then push out your chest.  Place the pole in the crook of your arm, and slowly walk, no strut, around the pole with your head held high!

The Bridge:
If you have done yoga, you know the bridge and this one is similar, except you use a pole. Grab the pole with both hands and straddle with your legs.  Now, bend your knees and arch your back while allowing your head to drop back.

The Ripple:
Think of a body wave.  Hold the pole with one hand and lean towards the lean into the pole with your upper body. Be sure to exaggerate your rear sticking back.  Now inch your abs closer to the pole as you pull the shoulders back.  Finally, pull your shoulders back until the pole is between your legs. This should be a fluid slow motion.

The Leg Grip:
You guessed it, jump onto the pole and hold on with your legs. Try to straighten one leg while you spin around.
