New Sequence for your Yoga or Yoga-ish Practice

By Christina | January 13, 2009

I saw this in a magazine and really liked the exercises inthe workout.  It can be done as a functional training workout or incorporated into a yoga practice. That’s why I liked it, it has versatility and is actually fun. Some of the groupings have an animal name so as you do it, try to embody that animal. Give this a try and let me know what you think.

Rolling Plow:  Sit in a squat with your arms over your head and your butt almost touching the floor.  Using core control, sit back and roll all the way to laying very slowly.  Keeping knees bent and arms in the air, continue rolling onto to the shoulder blades eventually rolling the knees over the head and feet to the floor behind you.

Leaping Lizard: Stand with feet more than shoulder width apart, toes pointed out to the sides and arms at your sides.  Crouch down and place your hands on the floor.  Jump straight up

Fighting Crocodile:  Begin laying face down with your hands by your chest. Lift your head and shoulders, keep feet down.  Pressing palms down, lift your torso and hop both feet towards your hands quickly.  Lift to stand and do it again.

Check with your doctor before you do any of these exercises
