Forget an apple a day keeps the doctor away, eat more broccoli!

Broccoli has received the esteemed title of “Crown Jewel of Nutrition” thanks to its vitamin-rich, high in fiber, and low in calorie nutritional properties. Broccoli known for giving you the best vegetable nutrition available also gives you many ways to lead a healthier, longer life. Broccoli has been shown to be effective as preventive in the battle against cancer. Â
Cancer comes in as the second leading cause of death in the United States. Sadly, many cases go undetected for too long and once they are diagnosed there is limited time left to have many therapies available. Prevention is the best medicine where cancer is concerned. Eating a healthy diet, low in fat and high in fruits and vegetables, does not guarantee that you will not contract the often fatal illness, but it definitely lowers your risk. Broccoli has multiple cancer-fighting properties including vitamin C, beta carotene, and fiber. It is also rich of phytochemicals (indole carbinol and sulforaphane) which appear to offer us protection against certain cancers and heart disease.Â
