Sunday, August 31st, 2008As a Personal Trainer and thrice pregnant exercise enthusiast, it is sometimes frustrating that there is not specific information on what we can and cannot do during pregnancy with regards to fitness. The standard, “do what you normally do,” coupled with “watch the heart rate, type of activity and body temperature,” make for a scary cocktail of advise.

MWhitner Calvin & Hobbes quotes
I teach yoga, focusing specifically on chakras and asanas. One of the things I talk about in the higher brow and crown chakras is taking the time to be present where you [...]

Typically when we think about strengthening the middle part of the body, the core, we think about sit ups and crunches; endless repetitions of traditional abdominal exercises. Additionally when we think about the abdominals specifically, we [...]
You can workout anywhere if you are creative
Sunday, August 24th, 2008I used to work sitting a desk 8 hours a day but wanted to keep myself active and fit so I brought dumbbells to work, placed them by my desk and got creative with what I called, “workout in a chair.” Thankfully I had very understanding bosses who even if clients would walk in, allowed me to be me. Here are [...]
Michael Phelps is a role model, right?
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008Not necessarily. I constantly hear how many calories Michael Phelps eats in a day. Okay, no one has come up and said how many hours he works out each day. The main statement is, “Michael Phelps eats over 12,000 calories a day.” It just seems that when my children are saying it and people at [...]
Talking when you workout makes it easier, sort of
Friday, August 22nd, 2008Clearly, talking does not actually make a workout easier because you need to use oxygen to speak and ideally if you are working out in your aerobic or anaerobic zone you should be using your air for your body versus the conversation. Talking does give the perception that a workout is easier.
