Tips to Make Your Cooking Healthier

By Christina | April 1, 2008

Sticking to healthy eating and making a commitment to your health and wellness for life is no easy task. The following are a few tips to help you on the road to a lifetime of change and wellness.  In my opinion, if you make changes that are natural and easy to implement you have a far greater chance of success in the long run.  Asking someone to completely revamp their diet is an almost sure way to have them fail whereas changing how they prepare what they already eat means a better chance at success.

The following are quick and easy ways to make big changes:

  1. Use a non-stick cooking spray instead of butter and oil
  2. Select meats that are lean and include fish as a part of your diet
  3. Trim fat from meat before cooking
  4. Grill, bake, steam or boil your foods instead of frying or sauteing
  5. Drain the fat from your meat before you serve
  6. Replace ground beef with ground turkey
  7. Use breadcrumbs instead of batter
  8. Select canadian or turkey bacon over regular bacon
  9. When preparing eggs, use two egg whites and one yolk
  10. Use evaporated milk instead of cream whenever possible

Good luck.  Share your health changing ideas.
