Forgiveness. Seems easy to do but is it? During your next yoga practice or long drive into work, maybe even while you eat quietly, think about forgiveness. Do you hold onto anything from anytime in your past? Maybe your parents were not the best, maybe you didn’t get a great education, maybe your marriage went wrong, maybe you were hurt or betrayed by a friend or stranger. Is any of the pain, anger or resentment still in your heart? Do you ever feel like you should be angry because your nemesis does not deserve your forgiveness? The truth is YOU deserve the forgiveness. YOU deserve to let go of anger, hurt, grief or betrayal. There is only one person affected really by your pain and that person is you. You learn to shut down, you learn to protect your heart, you learn that the world is not such a great place. You are ultimately hurt and whoever or whatever you percevied as causing this angst has possibly moved on and forgotten all about what you are holding near and dear to your heart.
Today, think about what might be closing your heart, think about what might have caused you to be rough and tough on the inside and see if you can forgive. Forgive the past, forgive others who hurt you, forgive yourself for your perceived failings, forgive the guy who just cut you off in traffic, forgive your partner for not reading your mind. Just FORGIVE and free your heart and soul.
