When was the last time you went for a walk?

Walking may be the secret to living longer. Walking every day might actually lower your risk of early death by 50 to 70%! Is that because walking is such an amazing activity? The answer is, yes, walking is wonderful but it is more because nothing affects life expectancy quite as much as your fitness level does. Essentially the fitter you are, the longer you should be around. Why walking? Well, it’s easy to do, inexpensive, can be done with friends or alone, no special equipment needed, and can be done anywhere at anytime. You can find opportunties everywhere you look to increase your walking. Park at the far end of the parking lot, walk to places within a mile or two, walk to a coworkers desk instead of calling, etc.
There are 3 ways to improve your fitness level - increase your frequency, intensity or time. You can easily increase your walking intensity by walking faster or adding movement to the arms and legs. Increasing your frequency means walking more often and increasing your time means walking longer. Whichever you choose, get walking and live longer!
