I have heard there is such a thing as good stress, is that true?

Absolutely there is such a thing as good stress.  In fact we need a certain amount of stress to perform at our best.  Stress up to a certain level enhances performance and then after that point, the stress becomes detrimental.  There is no one set stress point for all people so there is no way to judge or gauge how much stress is healthy quantitatively speaking.

Each person has a different amount of stress they need to be at their best.  In addition, each person has a point at which stress will overwhelm them which differs from someone else’s.  The important factors to remember regarding stress are the warning signs of excessive stress.  As long as you feel good and energized you are okay however if you start to experience headaches, stomach aches, tension in the neck, exhaustion, insomnia, anxiety, fear, and digestive problems as a result of life, you may need to look into stress reducing practices such as yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, even therapy.

  1. John Cunningham Says:

Good stress should be a call to action. Can you do something about demands for you time? Sure, you can schedule time for activities that always seem to pop up or Plan time in you day for dealing with crisises.

This is especially true when you often feel stress about the same things. Look at what you can do to change the situation and thus the outcome.
