March 22, 2008 Yoga Meditation

By Christina | March 22, 2008

Today I taught an aqua yoga class for a friend who was out of town.  I started the class format at our club about 6 months ago while I was pregnant because I realized how much easier and stress free it was to try poses in the pool, especially balancing poses.  There is really no risk of falling over in the water, is there? The main demographic for this class is the mature adult population which by the way is a huge segment these days at fitness facilities. They love the class for a variety of reasons:

  1. It was created with them in mind
  2. They can do it
  3. It is easy on the joints
  4. It’s the one yoga class they are not afraid or intimidated by

At the end of the class we have a floating meditatin and then savasana.  Today’s relaxation and meditation were wonderful.

Begin by relaxing your feet.  Feel them as you float, feel the water as it flows between your toes. Feel how weightless you are on your legs. Relax every muscle in your legs - your ankles, calves, knees, thighs, glutes. Just relax and let go.

Relax your torso, your belly, your chest, your heart and lungs, your shoulders and neck.  Feel yourself in your nature element; the water.  You are supported, at peace and safe.

Relax your jaw, your lips, your tongue, your eyes. Every muscle in your face is at rest. You are at rest.

See yourself radiating white light from every pore in your body.  Your white energy, your white aura fills the pool and intermingles with everyone else’s. You are one with the water and each other. This white light is everything good and serene. It is yours to carry throughout the day and weekend.  Allow all who come into contact with you to feel your white light.  Allow yourself now to drift thoughtless…
