Green Tea benefits are not what you might think
By Christina | March 14, 2008
Sure green tea is loaded with anti-oxidants and free radicals that are known for reducing the risk of chronic diseases, but how much of that benefit do you think you are reaping? The reality is, many, if not most of the benefits of green tea are lost as they pass through the intestines. Up to 80% of the good stuff you want from green tea never arrives to its destination of choice. Fortunately, there is an easy solution…By adding citrus to your green tea (vitamin C) you will increase the acidity in the intestines and help the body to absorb the benefits of the tea. Any citrus will do but lemon has been shown to be the most effective. Try this recipe the next time you want to boost your vitamin intake:
You need to bring a cup of water to approximately 160 to 160 degrees F; add 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves and steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and enjoy.
