Heart attacks and the super bowl
By Christina | February 2, 2008
A German researcher recently studied the effects of high stakes soccer matches on the viewers and found an increase in cardiac emergencies (up to triple the number) during games. Likewise, Americans take the Super Bowl very seriously and so there are a few precautions some people should take for tomorrow’s big game. If you have any cardiac condition and plan to watch the game make sure to take the following precautions:
- Take your prescribed medications
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid high fat foods
- Get plenty of sleep the night before (tonight)
- Don’t physically exert yourself
- Men should have only two drinks, women just one
- Bad call, don’t take it too seriously
Have fun!
