New aqua exercise equipment - The shin fin
By Christina | January 27, 2008
If you enjoy swimming as a form of exercise you may be constantly on the look out for new and innovative ways to… well, swim. I too am always looking for new “toys” or tools to make my Group Exercise classes more fun and challenging. For aqua classes or swimming on your own there is a new product made in Australia that seems promising with regards to utilizing and targeting muscles in a new way. Targeting muscles differently is a major factor in lowering the risk of injury as well as revving up your workouts.
The Shinfin (TM) is a fin/ shin guard (think soccer gear but softer) that you strap to your lower leg to reduce the stress to your feet, ankles, calves and Achilles tendons making you faster and safer in the water. The Shinfin also helps you to have a smoother more efficient, streamlined stroke as you swim your laps. Other benefits of the Shinfin are:
- Targets water exercises for thighs, buttocks and abs
- Reduces fat in the thighs, buttocks and abs
- Stimulates muscles in the torso and back
- Increases aqua fitness and stamina
- Excellent for deep water running, aqua jogging and water walking
- Eliminates the cramping in the ankles and feet experienced with standard flippers which are worn on the feet
If you are like me and willing to try new producst to keep your workouts fresh, this is one to look into.
