Fun at Work

By Christina | January 5, 2008

Today as I drove to work to teach my aqua aerobics class I thought about how much I don’t really enjoy teaching aqua classes.  It isn’t the people, they are the sweetest at the gym and it isn’t that I don’t know how, I do and I have received positive feedback when I lead the classes.  I think it is that the radio is hard to hear outside, the ladies (and a few men) don’t like the music I like too much and they LOVE to talk during class. It is more of a social function for them and I do understand it’s just very disrespectful to me to be calling out cues and trying to motivate while some of the class is in their own world… I digress… What I was trying to establish is that I don’t love teaching aqua aerobics.  I arrived at work and went upstairs to prepare myself some coffee and get a muffin before class.  Happily, with coffee and muffin in hand I started out for the pool.  As I went down the stairs - the wet stairs - I fell.  Let me paint the picture…

I fell back, poured piping hot coffee onto my entire front side, landed on the corner of a step on my left buttock, scraped my left calf, and landed squarely on my left elbow.  I lay there thinking… my muffin!!! Then I looked at my new sneakers to see if they had been stained by the coffee then after realizing they were still white I realized.. OUCH!  My rear end and elbow were in so much pain. In addition to the pain I was feeling somewhat humiliated that people saw me being so graceful.  My friends brought me ice and another taught my class and another gave me ibuprofen.

It was all okay though because I didn’t have to teach aqua.  LOL
