If I don’t feel sore after a workout, is it working?
By Christina | October 12, 2007
This is a common question. The answer is, as long as you are working hard and feel as though you are pushing yourself during your workout, then yes, it is working.
Soreness happens when you give your body something new. For example, you may be a great distance runner but the day you throw sprints in your repertoire you will feel glute soreness, your body is not accustomed to the explosive power that is generated in the glutes to execute a sprint.
Once you become used to the activity, your body learns how to do it and protects itself or learns the neuro patterns it needs to follow. Either way, the end result is less soreness and it is okay.
