Foam Rollers for Exercise
By Christina | September 23, 2007
Have you seen one of those foam rollers that are in just about every gym now? They vary in length and shape. There are semi circular foam rollers, round foam rollers, long and short foam rollers. They are made of a styrofoam material and are basically weightless but what are they used for? Well a foam roller has many uses. It can be used as an aid to release muscle tightness and spots that are knotted anywhere in the body. They can also be used as workout tools. There are exercises such as:
- Push Ups on the Roller
- Back Extension on the Roller
- Front Body Stretch
- Hip Extensions on the Roller
- Single Leg Bridge on the Roller
- Double Leg Bridge on the Roller
- Side Leg Lift in the Roller
- Crunches on the Roller
- Roll Ups on the Roller
When you use the foam roller as a tool to release knots and tension from the muscles you need to roll back and forth until you find the most sensitive areas and then stop, allow the muscles to relax and once the pain is gone move to the next region.
