When was the last time you had a Personal Training Assessment?
By Christina | September 21, 2007
A personal training assessment helps you to know your current physical condition inside and out. Often people start a new program and begin with the assessment but then never really revisit it. It is a great tool to track progress or the lack thereof. The purpose of the assessment is not just to tell you what you weigh and how much body fat you have although many people (trainers included) use it as just that - a tool to convince a potential client they need to train and pay money to help lose weight. The personal training assessment should also be used as an important measure of your flexibility, cardiovascular health as well as strength, endurance and body mass index.
If you have joined a gym or started a program and were tested, be sure to ask for a retest after 12 weeks or so to gauge how effective the plan you chose to is. If your strength, flexibilty and cardio are increasing and your fat and weight are decreasing (assuming those are your goals), than you are on track, but if not, stop and assess your plan and adjust as needed. There is a reason you are at the gym and working out, make sure you are achieiving it.
