Poses for Pregnancy
By Christina | September 15, 2007
Yoga makes delivery easier with its focus on breathing and hip opening as well as strengthening the core and legs. Mentally, yoga helps you enter into labor and delivery in a more relaxed and focused state. You are able to approach this last phase of pregnancy with confidence instead of stress. The following are some poses for you to practice if you cannot get to a prenatal yoga class. Take your time with each pose and make sure you have been cleared by your Obstetrician to practice yoga before you start.
If you have never heard of these poses or are not sure of what they are, just type the names into your search engine and there you will find hundreds of sites with pictures and detailed descriptions.
- Bridge
- Cat/ Cow
- Cobblers Pose
- Knee to Ankle Pose
- Cow Face Pose
- Head to Knee
- Seated Wide Leg Straddle
These are all seated, low stress poses meant to open and assist in flow of energy through your hips and to your baby. Be sure to set aside time every day to find peace and realxation as well as control of your breath so that when the big day comes, you are ready.
