Monthly Checklist - March

Last Month Checklist, February

Mar 1
Make a meal plan for the next 7 days--breakfast, lunch and dinner. A written plan gives you the opportunity to buy only what you need, and to use up what you make.

spring checklist, spring to do list, organize tipsMar 2 Started a book that you're not enjoying? Unless it's required reading, give yourself permission to stop reading it. No sense spending time on it if you're not enjoying it.

Mar 3 Trade in sugary soda for the day, in exchange for refreshing water. Flavor with a twist of lemon or lime for variety. Who knows? You may even want to continue this healthy trend!

Mar 4 Hang a French memo board in your office for inspiring mementos that make your smile, such as post cards, notes, small photos and a list of your major goals. Change your display as the season or mood changes.

Mar 5 Purchase photo frames on sale and hang family portraits on the wall. You'll no longer have to pick them up to dust under them.

Mar 6 Tired of cleaning? If it's in your budget, consider hiring a cleaning service to do it for you on a weekly or bi-monthly basis.

Mar 7 Put all unused hangers to one side of your clothes closet. If you leave them among your other hanging clothes, you may not be able to find them easily. When you need one, it will be a cinch to find.

Mar 8 Spend an hour or two planning a weekend getaway for later this year.

Mar 9 To clean out your dishwasher, first clean out any food debris laying in the food trap. Then, fill a coffee cup with vinegar, put it on the dishwashing rack and run a dishwasher cycle. This will clean your entire dishwasher.

Mar 10 Donate or toss any pairs of shoes that no longer fit, or you no longer like. Organize the keepers onto a shoe rack.

Mar 11 Daylight Savings Time (USA): At 2:00AM today, turn your clocks forward one hour and spring ahead!

Mar 12 Spend 30 minutes, an hour -- or whatever it takes -- to plow through your mail pile and sort it into bills to be paid, papers to be filed, mail to be read or mail to be given to someone else in your family. As you're sorting, get rid of any junk mail immediately.

Mar 13 Make it a rule that before the kids remove any toys or games, they have to put back the ones they're currently using. Give rewards and/or consequences as needed.

Mar 14 Do something healthy for yourself, like starting a new exercise routine, getting your blood pressure checked or ensuring your fridge is filled with healthy fruits and vegetables.

Mar 15 Begin preparing your federal income taxes, or make an appointment with your accountant. April 15th is only one month away.

Mar 16 Go on a date night with your spouse or significant other. Have young children? Ask a friend or neighbor to babysit for you, and offer your babysitting services when that person would like a date night of his or her own.

Mar 17 Celebrate St. Patrick's Day by making a loaf of Irish Soda Bread, wearing something green or going to a nearby town parade.

Mar 18 Buy yourself a shredder, so you can safely destroy papers you no longer need that contain personal information. Protect yourself against identity theft.

Mar 19 Get involved in your community by helping out with a local cause, assisting with community spring planting or even running for office!

Mar 20 Delete 5 computer files from your hard drive that you've created but no longer need. Do this each day, until your computer is completely free of personal documents, spreadsheets, etc. you no longer need.

Mar 21 Today is the first day of spring. Start a new project you've been meaning to get to.

Mar 22 Remove your sofa cushions to locate any small toys, coins or food particles that have fallen inside. Once these random items are removed, vacuum up any dust, crumbs, etc. and return the cushions back to the sofa.

Mar 23 Put a recent set of photos into a photo album or photo box. If you're feeling really ambitious, scrapbook them.

Mar 24 Get the car washed, and take the time to vacuum out the inside.

Mar 25 Do you have a pile of paper in a corner or in a box you haven't looked at for months? Spend the next few days weeding it out. Unless you need to keep those papers for legal purposes, chances are you don't need them.

Mar 26 Save the $2 you may be spending on a big cup of coffee on workday mornings, and put that money in a savings jar instead. In 20 days, you'll have saved $40!

Mar 27 Pull your car out of the garage, and sweep out dirt and debris.

Mar 28 Wipe clean the surfaces of your telephones. I find baby wipes work really well for this purpose.

Mar 29 If you celebrate Easter, finalize any plans for your upcoming Easter celebration in April. If you generally go out to eat, make any necessary reservations.

Mar 30 Get your bikes out of winter storage and go for a bike ride.

Mar 31 Clean your yard of any leftover winter debris and get ready for spring planting.
