Define ‘Overworking’ in the Home Office…

By Jeff Zbar | February 21, 2009

It’s Saturday night at the ice hockey rink. And I’m online.

A couple of hockey moms (no, SHE’s not here) are talking about their kids, school, and the idea of spending Saturday night in the rink (again). No dads around. And I’m not inclined to chat about school and stuff.

So I’m working.

And I’m wondering about whether this can be construed as “over” working — what with my blogging and writing articles and otherwise getting some paying efforts done during what otherwise would be idle time.

No conflict here. The more I do now, the less I have to do when Monday rolls around. And the fatter that invoice will be — atop whatever I’m able to bill for when I combined the weekday and weekend efforts.

No big deal, far as I’m concerned. I don’t imagine these moms are going to miss my thoughtful conversation.

But my clients will appreciate my special attention to their work.

As long as they don’t call me at the rink. Working or no, this is my time…

Jeff, I’ve often found that dads don’t mix very well with soccer moms. Often, we are seen as the enemy.
